Who is the top of the class, the cream of the crop, the best beyond compare when it comes to the most energy efficient clothes washer? I went looking to find out and only had to venture as far as Energize Connecticut, my home state resource for energy savings ideas, products and services.

When it comes to the most energy efficient residential clothes washer, several manufacturers are locked in the spin cycle, with three offering appliances with a perfect 100 out of 100 point energy efficiency rating.

The least expensive unit among washers with a 100 ranking is the The Kenmore Elite 41072—an energy efficient 5.16 cubic feet front load clothes washer with a water factor of 3.0 and priced starting at $1,230. The stack-able Kenmore Elite 41072 is 47 percent more energy efficient than the current average of all washer models, according to the site.

The top rated washer from LG is its WM8000HW—an energy efficient 5.18 cubic feet front load clothes washer with a water factor of 3.0, going for around $1,350. The LG WM8000HW is a Top-10, best-selling washer and has a combined user rating of 4.6 stars out of 5 from 271 reviews at the Energize CT site.

Another top rated washer is the Samsung WF56H9100AG, an energy efficient 5.56 cubic feet front load clothes washer with a water factor of 2.5 that sells for about $1,489

Out of the 183 models rated on the site, the seven most energy efficient clothes washers are all Samsung products. The least expensive of those is the The Samsung WF45H6300AW—an energy efficient 4.47 cubic feet front load clothes washer with a water factor of 2.7 starting around $990.

Samsung also produces the top four highest capacity models rated on the site, with its WA56H9000AP 5.65 cubic feet top load model leading the pack and priced at about $1,350. Or if you prefer a front loader, get that same 5.65 cubic foot capacity in Samsung's WF56H9100AG starting around $1,489.
